Goodwood Park Hotel’s Durian Puffs are some of the best known, and a must-have even for non-durian lover like myself. The puff looks like a profiterole with light mousse-y durian flesh, is dainty, and fits into one mouthful.

Amoy Street Food Centre located in the central business district continues to offer quality hawker fare at very affordable prices. A plain donburi ($4) – choose between furikake Japanese brown rice or white rice – is served with onsen egg, daikon and cucumber pickles and you can choose to add on protein options like sous vide chicken breast ($4) to make a bowl that still comes in at under $10.

I will introduce friends to slurping half-boiled eggs with pepper and dark-soya sauce, both disgusting-looking but delicious. Also, our Nanyang-style coffee is in a class of its own.
